TJ is a Christian and stays involved in the community, embracing the efforts of organizations like the March of Dimes, The ALS Association, NAMI, Palmetto Place Children’s Shelter and several other local and national charities. TJ was recently on the board of the Palmetto Health South Carolina Cancer Center and is a cancer survivor himself.
With over two decades on the air in Columbia daily and years of top 3 drive time ratings in all demos, the voice & unique personality of TJ McKay are known quite well in age groups spanning several generations. When TJ speaks, people listen.
He was raised in Hawaii and loves the ocean, all water sports, tennis, and most of all time with his wife and children. He also enjoys martial arts and has a brown belt in Tae Kwon Do. When asked what he would do if he ever retired from radio he responds: “That decision may be 20 to 30 years from now. Retire from what… to what? I am doing what I love.”
